IMPORTANT: Measles Outbreak Bulletin
Advice from Starship, National Child Cancer Network and Canterbury District Health Board
If your child is undergoing treatment for childhood cancer, or is immunosuppressed in any way, please take the time to read the information below in full.
This bulletin outlines the steps you should take if you, your child or anyone in your family has been, or may have been exposed to the measles virus, as well as providing steps to take in order to protect your child. This includes timeframes in which someone may be contagious, how to ensure you are immune, and advice around preventative measures you can take in your day to day.
Being informed on the measles outbreak, and getting immunised is vital to protecting our vulnerable children undergoing treatment, as they cannot get immunised themselves while immunosuppressed.
For further information and advice about your specific situation, contact your local paediatric hospital or GP.
