Our meeting with Minister Shane Reti

We were invited to sit sown with the Minister on 31st July. Here's how it went.

Child Cancer Foundation CEO Monica Briggs and Policy, Advocacy and Projects Manager Kerry Price met with Health Minister Hon. Shane Reti, along with colleague and Canteen Aotearoa Chief Executive Nick Laing.

Ahead of the meeting, we sent briefing letter to the Minister on several issues we wanted to explore, like the National Travel Assistance programme as well as paediatric palliative care in New Zealand, are somethings we felt was important to raise significance around, and he agreed. Both are areas of focus in our advocacy with our peers.

The meeting was constructive, and it was clear to us that the Minister has a huge commitment to cancer care, treatment and prevention, reinforced by comments from our colleagues at the Cancer Control Agency who were also present. We offered to support the Minister in this mission in relation to paediatric oncology and he invited us to keep him informed.

You can view the briefing letter here, where you’re invited to take a look at some of the broader issues we’re focused on as an organisation.
