The mahi we do at Child Cancer Foundation comes at a higher and higher cost as time goes on. With no government funding, it now takes $6.5 million each year to carry out the essential care we provide to families. Letting them down is not an option.
Thankfully, we have a committed and passionate partner in Scenic Hotel Group who’ve stood alongside us for more than 10 years.
When Foundation staff and families in our care have needed accommodation around the country, Scenic has been there. They’ve pitched in with incredible partnership for our key annual fundraising events, like Sparkle for Hope in Christchurch, and they’ve been enthusiastic in supporting community fundraising, too.
We’re grateful and fortunate to have them with us in support of Kiwi families facing childhood cancer. Here’s a glance at how Scenic Hotel Group has partnered with us to make a meaningful impact over the years.
Room to thrive around the motu
From 2014, Scenic committed to providing sponsored room nights for Child Cancer Foundation when they’ve needed to travel for work purposes. This means accommodation expenses that would have added up and detracted from funding for families could be greatly reduced! The rooms have also been offered to families in our care who’ve been in need. From there, the partnership truly grew and flourished.
Making events memorable and impactful
Scenic Hotel Group has been a key supporter of our big, annual fundraising events as well. One of the most significant is our Sparkle for Hope Gala Dinner & Ball in Christchurch – an occasion that sees Scenic pulling out all the stops and helping fill the room with spirit (and auction prizes!).
These events bring in a large portion of the critical funds we need each year to keep providing care to families. Their partnership means more of the funds raised can go directly towards this essential support.
In 2019, Scenic took on the role of major sponsor, a commitment that continues today. They will once again be serving as the principal partner for Sparkle for Hope on 17 May 2025, which is set to be another extraordinary evening dedicated to generosity, celebration and making a lasting difference in the lives of whānau facing childhood cancer.
Community highlights and shared moments
Among the many memorable moments together, one that stands out is 2024’s outstanding Sparkle for Hope auction. The energy in the room was electric with enthusiasm and overwhelming generosity on display. By the end of the night, a record-breaking amount was raised by attendees and lasting memories were made, all in support of our mission.
Scenic is also a passionate presence at the annual Crusade With Heart Long Run in Christchurch, where its staff and their families join the Crusaders whānau and the wider community to raise vital funds for Child Cancer Foundation. This event has become a highlight on the calendar, demonstrating the power of community support for a cause that touches so many lives.

Like Child Cancer Foundation, we believe in the impact of care, community and connection.
