
Nick Beale - Chair
Nick is the Managing Director of RCP, New Zealand’s largest independent project management firm, and brings 22 years of business management experience to CCF. RCP has been a sponsor of Child Cancer Foundation since 2012.
Nick has been on the Board of the Child Cancer Foundation since 2012 and has been Chair of the Finance, Audit and Risk Committee. Nick was elected Chair in November 2018.
Nick’s desire to be involved with Child Cancer began around 1980 when a family friend was diagnosed with cancer. An opportunity to be part of the Board presented itself in late 2011 and this was Nick’s opening to directly contribute to child cancer and the Foundation.

Pat Wilkes - Deputy Chair
Pat is a retired Manager of a manufacturing company and has been involved with the Foundation for 15 years; Pat has chaired the Personal Development Grants Committee for 10 years and been the Deputy Chair of the National Board for 9 years.
Pat understands the child cancer journey intimately, and very much believes that the Foundation is a parent led organisation and that the best support possible, is a parent supporting a parent. Pat's daughter, Eilish, was diagnosed at 2 years old with a brain tumour.

Jim Boult
Jim is currently the Mayor of the Queenstown Lakes District Council, and is also an experienced senior corporate manager and director. His roles have included CEO of Christchurch Airport and the Shotover Jet Group. In addition to his mayoral role, Jim continues to chair the boards of several large private companies.
Jim has been involved with the Foundation for almost 30 years. His and his wife Karen’s involvement with the Foundation arose through the tragic death of the 3 year old son of a close friend.

Dean Bradley
Dean is a Professional Conference Organiser and Event Manager based in Wellington. Dean has owned his own company (Convention Management New Zealand Ltd) since 2004. He has been involved with the Foundation for 14 years and brings organisational, project management and parent based skills to the Board.
Dean's involvement with the Foundation began when his daughter, Amber, was diagnosed with a brain tumour - since that time Dean has served as a committee member and branch chair for the Wellington Regional Branch and came to the Board as the Regional representative. In his spare time, Dean enjoys spending time with his partner and their children as well as trail running.

Alex Hanlon
Alex is a specialist property and construction consultant and commercial negotiator. She relocated to Christchurch from Sydney following the 2011 earthquakes in order to lead the recovery of the University of Canterbury. Alex holds a BA in Political Science from UNSW is a Member of the NZ Institute of Directors and an Associate Member of the Resolution Institute.
Alex joined Child Cancer Foundation as a board member representing the Canterbury region in 2016. She is a bereaved parent and is delighted to be able to bring her professional skills and parent experience to the organisation.

Karen Heslip
Karen works part time in an accountancy firm and runs a sheep and beef cattle property in rural Southland with her husband; their son manages another sheep and beef cattle property for them in West Otago. Karen is a bereaved parent and first became involved with the the Southland Branch of the Foundation in 2002.
Karen became involved with the Foundation to give something back to an organisation that had supported her family during their son’s treatment. She now very much enjoys seeing the joy of a child’s face being able to take part in a family event that she has helped to organise.

Stuart Hutchinson
Stuart is a partner in the Auckland office of national law firm Simpson Grierson and he has qualifications in accountancy and law.
Stuart replaced the inaugural legal advisor and a driving force in the formation of the Foundation, Kerry Goldstone, upon his untimely death in 2005. Stuart’s son was treated for leukaemia in the early nineties.

Stephen Laughton
Stephen is a Paediatric Oncologist at Starship Children’s Hospital with specific expertise in the management of brain tumours in children. He has been involved in the clinical care of children with cancer since 2000.
Stephen was the inaugural recipient of a Child Cancer Foundation grant, which enabled his training in Paediatric Neuro-Oncology at one of the world’s leading institutions - St Jude Children’s Research Hospital, in Memphis, Tennessee. The Child Cancer initiative has meant valuable links have been forged which have on-going benefits for New Zealand children, including participation in what is regarded as the leading medulloblastoma clinical trial currently open world-wide. He is married, with three teenage children, and remains committed to ensuring New Zealand children and their families are well supported through their cancer journey.

Dennis Turton
Dennis is the Chief Executive of Trust Waikato which is a Community Trust with an investment fund of $390millon that grants a portion of its investment dividends to the communities of the Waikato.
Dennis became involved with Child Cancer Foundation after his son, Noah, was diagnosed with a brain tumour in 2010. Dennis is a member of the Waikato Connect Group and has been a board member since 2014. Dennis believes parents involvement with Child Cancer Foundation is fundamental to a strong support network as families face the trauma of a child with cancer.
